28 | Aloha Cafe, Tijuana

The Aloha Cafe (1928-2011), Tijuana’s first pre-tiki bar, was located on Avenida Revolución (then known as Main Street by Americanos) for over eighty years. The cantina changed hands, was burned down and rebuilt several times, but stood the test of time until a fire ultimately shut it down in 2011. Here’s a great photo of the The Aloha Cafe on the evening of September 22, 1949. It’s in the book!

Kickstarter project 12% funded, thank you! 28 days to go…
28 Days of Tiki is a countdown to the funding of my Kickstarter project, Ninety Years of Classic San Diego Tiki – The Book. It’s a visual history and celebration of San Diego and Tijuana’s Polynesian Pop culture, tiki restaurants, bars and cuisine.
